Stiebel Eltron triples industrial jobs

The heat pump specialist Stiebel Eltron will expand the number of jobs at its main plant in Holzminden to around 1,200 by 2027. In addition, the production area for heat pump heating systems will be expanded to the size of four football pitches - the company is investing 450 million euros in the Lower Saxony headquarter for this purpose. This is the GreenTech company's response to the boom in demand for climate-friendly heating without oil and gas.

"Stiebel Eltron is creating new jobs in Germany with the energy transition," says Dr. Kai Schiefelbein. "Unlike many of our competitors, we are expanding our capacities for environmentally friendly heating technology at domestic locations: Currently, for example, just under 400 employees work in heat pump production in Holzminden, Lower Saxony - by 2027, we want to triple the number of colleagues here, and production capacities will be roughly quadrupled. Preparations for the construction work have already begun."

New GreenTech jobs in Germany
Despite the shortage of skilled workers, the number of employees at Stiebel Eltron's German sites had already increased by a good 1,000 to around 3,200 within the last three years. The majority of the new jobs will be created in manufacturing, workshops and logistics. The family-owned company is pursuing a pragmatic approach: on the one hand, it is looking for people who already have manual experience in an industrial workplace, for example, in heating, mechanical or automotive engineering. At the same time, jobs are also offered that applicants can fill after only a few weeks of internal qualification: " We know from experience that certain manufacturing roles feature routine tasks that can be quickly learned," says Dr Kai Schiefelbein.

Workplace that makes the world a better place
People see Stiebel Eltron as an attractive employer: "During the recruitment interviews, we always hear that the applicants want to find meaning in their work and that our GreenTech orientation, therefore, motivates them," says Rebecca Knauer, Head of Human Resources Germany at Stiebel Eltron. "We are contributing to the energy transition and helping to make the world a little better. With our tradition as a family business, we are also perceived as an emphatic, honest and authentic employer. This applies to the jobs around manufacturing and administration as well as to research and development."

Taking responsibility pays off
Taking responsibility for the energy transition and holding ourselves accountable for the impact of our actions is a successful model: the European Environmental Bureau (EEB) in Brussels recently awarded Stiebel Eltron the title of "Leader of the Energy Transition 2023" - according to the audit, the entire product range is recognised as environmentally friendly and compatible with European climate targets.
