Welcome to the STIEBEL ELTRON neighbourhood

We’ve been preparing for this arrival for quite some time.

At long last, we can present our safest, quietest, most efficient and environmentally friendly innovation to date.

It’s our pleasure to introduce you to the family, and a new generation of air-to-water Heat Pumps.
The WPL-A Trend.

WPL-A

The Timing Is Perfect

We’re launching hpnext with the new WPL-A range of Heat Pumps in 2026 to celebrate a major milestone.
50 1

What is it?

hpnext stands for the Next Generation of Heat Pumps, because the new WPL-A Trend represents a dramatic shift in Heat Pump technology. With a reengineered refrigerant circuit optimised for the eco-friendly R290, these units are more efficient and sustainable than ever.

At first glance, you’ll notice its premium quality, matte anthracite finish and a restrained monolithic design that avoids unnecessary flourishes, focusing instead on a timeless elegance that communicates durability. Its physical touchpoints are crafted to be intuitive, simplifying operations for end users. The unit’s design complements its technical capabilities in sustainability, efficiency, and acoustics. With even quieter operation and an intelligent Silent Mode, installation is flexible, even in densely built areas. Larger capacity units are taller, but the footprint remains the same, making it easier to find the perfect location.

We believe that for the energy transition to succeed, sustainable technology must be desirable with a rewarding user-experience in both private and commercial contexts.

Premium efficiency and climate-friendly performance come together in hpnext. We have optimised the refrigerant circuit to deliver flow temperatures ≤75°C with no need for added heating elements, a COP of 5.5, one of the lowest GWPs on the market, and an enhanced overall system design that includes model-specific components and electronic shut-off monitoring. These features are standard across the entire range and represent a clear market advantage, as these powerful air-to-water heat pumps reliably meet high heating demands with outstanding efficiency. Reverse-cycle cooling is also available for year-round comfort.

The WPL-A is a testament to what’s possible when engineering precision meets creative vision: a product that protects the climate while enhancing built environments.

We understand the complex challenges of heat transition for professional installers. Whether for new builds or modernisation projects, for single or multi-family homes, the WPL-A is highly versatile and suitable for virtually any living or construction situation. With its rapid high heat output, it can typically operate with conventional radiators; a capability that’s especially valuable in renovated or partially renovated buildings and for high domestic hot water usage requirements. Electrical connections are efficiently handled thanks to our new clamp system, and a new two-person carry concept simplifies transport and setup.

Our goal was to make installation quick, easy, and intuitive, which is why we’ve taken convenience to a whole new level.

"Design is not decoration. It's strategy."

For a future that is sustainable, we must engineer desirability and elevate the user experience.

Only just released, the WPL-A Trend range has already won two prestigious European industrial design accolades: Red Dot Award and German Design Award.

Simplified planning and design.
With a product portfolio for every living and construction situation, the WPL-A is a highly attractive solution. Universally applicable for new construction, modernisation projects, and renovations, single-family homes, multi-family homes, or cascades.
Ready, set, go. All WPL-A Trend heat pumps feature the newly optimised installation and connection concept, app control, and a two-person carrying concept to simplify transport and setup. All necessary system components for both indoor and outdoor units are already integrated.
Smarter systems + custom protocols.
Safety components include integrated gas separators, vents, pressure relief valves and electronic monitoring with shut-off functions for maximum safety of both people and the environment. Model-dependent features are standard across the entire range.
Greener, cleaner, and leaner.
While the climate-friendly R290 isn’t new, our extensive R&D has yielded a game-changer. Custom engineered for the decarbonising gas, our optimised refrigerant circuit enhances the ultra-low GWP gas, delivers a COP of up to 5.5 and improves overall efficiency.

FAQs

The WPL-A range stands as a testament to what is possible when engineering precision meets creative vision. A product that protects the climate while enhancing the beauty of the built environment.
1. What is the difference between R290 and other refrigerants used?
STIEBEL ELTRON considers R290 the future of refrigerants compared to higher-GWP refrigerants because it has an ultra-low global warming potential (GWP ≈ 3) and zero ozone depletion potential. It’s also highly energy-efficient, which can reduce electricity use and indirect emissions over the system’s lifetime.
2. How does a hydronic heat pump work to heat my home?
Air source heat pumps use a refrigeration circuit to harvest energy from the air. This energy is then used to heat the water which is pumped through a hydronic heating circuit, such as in-slab piping or radiators, to warm your home.
3. How noisy is a hydronic heat pump?
Hydronic heat pumps from STIEBEL ELTRON are the quietest on the market thanks to an encapsulated refrigerant circuit and acoustically isolated compressor. Advanced sound engineering guarantees that heat pumps from STIEBEL ELTRON can be used in neighbourhoods with a dense population. Many models even feature an additional silent mode.
4. Can a hydronic heat pump system still heat my home when it is cold outside?
Yes, hydronic heat pumps from STIEBEL ELTRON are engineered to operate energy efficiently even when outside temperatures fall below zero. Advanced technology from Germany ensures efficiency even at cold temperatures down to -25°C.
5. Can I use hydronic radiators with this heat pump?
The WPL-A range is excellent for radiators, achieving high flow temperatures of up to 75C.
6. Can I control my hydronic heating heat pump from my mobile device?
All STIEBEL ELTRON heat pumps now tie into the MyStiebel App for complete control over your STIEBEL ELTRON household appliances.
