FAQ

How do I know if I have three-phase power at my property?

Contact your local energy provider with your address. They will confirm if three-phase power is available at your property.

Can I install a DHB-E LCD water heater if I have three-phase power?

You will need an electrician to confirm the available supply in amps per phase. The DHB-E 18 LCD requires 27 A per phase, while the DHB-E 27 LCD requires 40 A per phase.

I have an existing three-phase instantaneous unit I want to replace. What STIEBEL ELTRON system should I select?

Check the amperage supply from the circuit breaker feeding your current unit. Contact our team to confirm the most suitable STIEBEL ELTRON replacement model.

What size instantaneous electric water heater do I need for my apartment or house?

Sizing depends on the number of outlets and the incoming cold water temperature. As a guide:
• For a 1-bathroom apartment or house: a 19.4 kW unit (e.g. DHE 18 LCD, DEL 18 AU, or DHB-E 18 LCD) is suitable.
• For a 2-bathroom house: a 28–29.1 kW unit (e.g. DHE 27 AU, DEL 27 Plus, or DHB-E 27 LCD) is recommended.

How can I tell which DHB-E LCD model I have?

Underneath the temperature adjustment dial is a flap that pulls forward and drops down. A rating label inside shows the model and size — DHB-E 13 LCD, DHB-E 18 LCD, or DHB-E 27 LCD. A guide is also available in the downloads section of the DHB-E LCD product page.

What hot water temperature can the DHB-E LCD deliver?

The DHB-E LCD range can deliver hot water up to 60°C. For domestic bathrooms, plumbing regulations require a temperature control device to limit delivery to 50°C. Alternatively, the STIEBEL ELTRON DEL Plus water heater delivers water not exceeding 50°C in accordance with AS3498. Learn more about the DEL Plus.

Where can the DHB-E LCD be installed?

Thanks to its compact size, the DHB-E LCD can be installed almost anywhere. It does not require ventilation, a relief drain, or a safe tray, making it suitable for cupboards, under-sink installations, roof spaces, service cavities, or Euro laundries. For outdoor use, it must be protected from the elements with a covering such as a meter box.

How far can the DHB-E LCD be installed from the outlet?

The DHB-E LCD should be installed as close as possible to the most frequently used outlet to reduce water and energy waste. However, it can also serve multiple outlets located several metres away.

How efficient is an instantaneous water heater compared to a storage system?

Instantaneous electric water heaters can be up to 30% more efficient than storage systems, as they only heat water when required and do not suffer from standing heat losses.
